Welcome to the Theatre Dictionary’s conversation about the term previews.

On previews’ official page, we define the term as “early performances that give the creative team an opportunity to refine a production while considering live reactions from a paying audience.” But now we want to know what the term previews means to you. You can use the comments section to tell us.

— Do you usually try to catch shows while they’re still in previews, or do you prefer to wait until they officially open?

— Have you ever seen the same production twice, once during previews and again after opening? Did you notice any significant changes?

If you’d like to make a video of your own about the term previews, then we’d love to hear from you! Just email us through our contact page. Tell us about yourself and why you want to make a video. We’ll be in touch ASAP and give you details on how to add your video to the Theatre Dictionary!
